I’m not sure what it says for my diet but I have hundreds of these things saved up. Some, I will just use as they are for Peas. Peas don’t like to have their roots disturbed. So loo roll tubes are perfect. <p></p><p>But I also wanted some little pots for my tomato seedlings. </p><p>All I did was to put 4 small cuts at in end and interlink them to form a bottom</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin9Lq_Ph1V2irsqq944B5P3SCc1oOe3ykWDQiyNhH87Ss2ejVmS92k_RJ6wYO3rfP0WsNMgfANzwI5PJP90lMSAMgOYgR_xdnNzn3tiU6ZCjIAX03yulWBQvNznk1wtaB9bv0G6eZd5JJD/s2048/0C4A5E7B-3FB0-4355-9694-7CB5AE8F1BBA.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin9Lq_Ph1V2irsqq944B5P3SCc1oOe3ykWDQiyNhH87Ss2ejVmS92k_RJ6wYO3rfP0WsNMgfANzwI5PJP90lMSAMgOYgR_xdnNzn3tiU6ZCjIAX03yulWBQvNznk1wtaB9bv0G6eZd5JJD/w480-h640/0C4A5E7B-3FB0-4355-9694-7CB5AE8F1BBA.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2xFmX8bZI_mP1eIClhFW-ZajPfcby54M8borI5K76vcyK9KquTs87QTEzC986H6vNnJGixzpNAnds3_RhKNyZwZWgjWUfgTtcwNW6oRjeBHdQvaLqsVGwBNUCirV5jrdZTWSHg4zY7Gtt/s2048/81F00E9D-3C11-483C-83CE-A79D7F0672A8.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2xFmX8bZI_mP1eIClhFW-ZajPfcby54M8borI5K76vcyK9KquTs87QTEzC986H6vNnJGixzpNAnds3_RhKNyZwZWgjWUfgTtcwNW6oRjeBHdQvaLqsVGwBNUCirV5jrdZTWSHg4zY7Gtt/w480-h640/81F00E9D-3C11-483C-83CE-A79D7F0672A8.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEXtwaOQ8ZIuLlYDWugLWMP3_OOZzGM14u0yA_pel4roh_V6ZDubdX-bygG6OAxAG7bxUuxkZUHDYp7cae4G_TQBtoZb0pQN9bsqN_3k3wYy5hf1lpc4aiyu7p3x6AMUAL8xtAWRbubf5p/s2048/46F39EFE-2BAE-4B45-9C12-0029A2987A92.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEXtwaOQ8ZIuLlYDWugLWMP3_OOZzGM14u0yA_pel4roh_V6ZDubdX-bygG6OAxAG7bxUuxkZUHDYp7cae4G_TQBtoZb0pQN9bsqN_3k3wYy5hf1lpc4aiyu7p3x6AMUAL8xtAWRbubf5p/w480-h640/46F39EFE-2BAE-4B45-9C12-0029A2987A92.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh67-TWPWXxeOh-7ccu2h1RgNnditiqBGsPC486Jpi5WTXEEvnNppJvDxp22IsimU4VUL4DaoY4LXxmfzYm6fCBaJU0uDY7IfYEJGO2BxZa6Ju5LOziuU48-w1IWazdTE9A-3GlmnngQCxC/s2048/976FF66A-DCB3-43AE-9276-7A4B32127406.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh67-TWPWXxeOh-7ccu2h1RgNnditiqBGsPC486Jpi5WTXEEvnNppJvDxp22IsimU4VUL4DaoY4LXxmfzYm6fCBaJU0uDY7IfYEJGO2BxZa6Ju5LOziuU48-w1IWazdTE9A-3GlmnngQCxC/w480-h640/976FF66A-DCB3-43AE-9276-7A4B32127406.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><br /><p><br /></p>Nathanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01205913647975627623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925096524222270377.post-79297240153839306892021-02-14T13:05:00.001+00:002021-02-14T13:05:08.400+00:00Potatoes. <p> I’ve planted some potatoes today. It may be a bit early but I always seem to have succeeded before. Behind the greenhouse is last years leaf mould. It still needs a good few months to mature but hopefully ready for when I start the majority of potting up. I stuffed all the leaves from my lawn into the green bags and punctured some holes in them. Never let it be said I don't know my Onions.<br />
<br />
I grow them inside first so that it is easier to transplant them. Also when I do it this way I find there is less chance of birds pulling them out. I'll be planting these as soon as the ground I dug last week is raked over.<br />
Do you do this or plant straight into the ground?<br />

Today I had a day off from work so I dropped little 'un off to school and headed straight to the allotment. It's very exciting at the moment (it's only day 2). I'm helping out a relative, although I hope to get paid in produce. So I dug over the bit I'm in charge of. Tomorrow's job is to dig some more and rake to a fine tilth. (that's gardening lingo, see, I'm getting the hang of this already).Nathanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01205913647975627623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925096524222270377.post-21170340512484158472019-03-03T21:14:00.003+00:002019-03-03T21:16:17.268+00:00I'm back again. Part 2I intend to post a little more than one update every six years this time.<br />
<br />
The garden's changed a lot in that time, no more cottage garden but grass (how do i convince my cat not to poo on the lawn?) and a big shed. Photos to follow. My intention this year is grow as much of my own food as I can. I also now have a quarter of an allotment which I'm sharing with an Auntie. To be honest I think I'm just being used as muscle, to do the digging and weeding. My little one is getting bigger. Soon he'll be carrying the compost back from the shop.<br />
<br />
So far I have sown Peas, Broad Beans and Onions. I have sown the onion sets in trays to give them a head start as I keep hearing on the news the snow's coming.<br />
<br />
I can't wait to get on the allotment and start digging. I love this time of year.<br />
<br />
What do you guys grow on your allotments and gardens?Nathanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01205913647975627623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925096524222270377.post-82877816633915979262015-07-21T21:55:00.003+01:002015-07-21T22:09:11.932+01:00I'm backWow! Its been a long time since I last posted. A lot has happened too. I now have a baby boy, Archie, two and a half. Having a little boy does not allow me much time to garden. Hes into diggers so he likes to move soil from the raised beds to the shingle path and the shingle path into the raised beds. I dont have any strawberries, raspberries, plums, figs, or cherries. They seem to find their way into his tiny belly only too easily. <br />
Oh well, not long and he'll be able to dig and rake alongside his daddy.<br />

Here are my Lupins, growing away happily, two weeks after being sown. I love to grow as many old fashioned plants as I can. Hollyhocks are also favourite of mine. I'd love to hear from you guys. I potted up a few more cuttings today. I love Pelargoniums, they are so easy to propagate this way. My plan is to sell a few to friends and passers by to fund my love of gardening. Money is really tight these days and gardening is not always a cheap hobby. The sheds falling apart so that needs mending soon. Might have to go skip diving to get the materials. <br />

This is the time of year when I get active on the seed sowing front. Tomatoes, marigolds and lupins. The garden's gonna get some special treatment this year. I need to be productive due to the fact that we have had a new addition to the family. Little Archie. Baby boy, 9 pounds and 5 ounces. He will no doubt cost us a small fortune so home grown veg is going to be very useful.Nathanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01205913647975627623noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925096524222270377.post-30637094920978075232012-10-31T14:26:00.003+00:002012-10-31T14:26:33.945+00:00Leek and Potato soupThis has to be the easiest recipe in the world.<br />
I decided to remove a Black current bush and needed the space where my leeks were. They had to go. Because I had to pick them early they were a bit small but still perfectly formed.<br />
I handed them over to my partner, Liz and she boiled up some potatoes, onion and the leek and blitzed them into a fantastic soup.<br />
This was Sundays lunch. Hmmmm!<br />
